In recent years, GTS research has developed Crucible program intensively developed further.

Both dense laboratory crucibles and porous, coarse-crystalline qualities for the melting process are the answer to interested customer requests.

Especially MgO-spinel is very popular because of its good thermal and chemical resistance to aggressive alkalis is a material in demand. In the field of battery research, GTS, together with the Fraunhofer Institute, has developed large-size sinter crucibles which are currently being tested in practice. Spinel crucibles are used in metallurgy because of their good slag resistance. The lotus effect is used for aluminium smelting and in the glass industry. The high thermal conductivity and relatively good thermal shock resistance (TWB) are particularly worth mentioning.
